EUCLID maintains a liaison executive office in Washington DC to facilitate liaison with the US-based (New York and Washington) diplomatic missions of its Participating States, and with the United Nations.
The EUCLID executive office is exclusively used for appointments and meetings either with or by government-sponsored and government affiliated staff. Examples are:
- correspondence with United Nations Treaty Section
- meetings with foreign visitors
- coordination of meetings with government-related (or IGO- related) applicants
- coordination of meetings with OAS related issues
- processing correspondence from US-based entities.
It does not serve the general public.
Since the United States is not a EUCLID Participating State, and since the liaison office is a leased executive office, it does not have diplomatic status in the United States. Its activities are limited to the facilitation of EUCLID's intergovernmental mandate under international law, the US State Deparment being duly informed of its existence and operations.
Government-sponsored and affiliated applicants, as well as diplomats wishing to use the facility should contact the EUCLID Assistant Secretary General based in Washington DC.
New York operations are under the authority of Under Secretary-General Robin van Puyenbroeck.
